I’m sure we’ve all been seeing imperial core reporting on the protests in Asia. They always seem to feature pictures of videos where the strawhat jolly Roger is visible, especially the pictures from Nepal, which we know for sure is a color revolution.
Imperial core media has been very positively been reporting on the flag, which is giving massive red flags.
One piece is my favorite piece of media so it’s painful to see the strawhats jolly Roger used by a cutout like the NED. Feels like a slap in the face.
My question is, does this feel like something a CIA cutout would co-opt and what is the reasoning for co-opting this particular flag? Are they doing shorthand to millennial-genz to try and gain support for the side that uses the flag? Is this symbol just useful because it’s everywhere already and they want to send a veiled threat to other governments? (“We can turn all these fans against you if you go against us”) Was it just convenient? Indonesian truck drivers used it, they decided to just co-opt it? Or am I way off base here and it was just a coincidence?
Makes me want to replace my strawhat decals with Revolutionary Army (also in one piece) so people don’t start suspecting me of being a fed or something.
The way to approach these movements:
Any kind of imagery/ slogans from pop-media.
Any kind of imagery/ slogans from other movements happening across the globe with no clear connection between the two. Example: protests/ riots for “democracy” in some eastern European country using the exact same rhetoric, slogans, and imagery used in a similar movement happening in a North African country. This is different from BLM occuring in the US and BLM occuring in France since both nations share a connection via police brutality against black/brown Africans and other racial minorities.
Vague demands and/or no clear plan of action after the demands are met.
Unwarranted violence especially against police forces or military personnel.
Protestors/movement/rioters have no leader or clear leadership.
The protest/riot happens out of nowhere. Usually if there is a major problem then this problem would have been known/protested several times prior. It would make sense, in the regard, that protests would progressively get larger, more organized, and more violent over the course of time. Essentially if you see a protest that gets big quickly, violent quickly, without a history of progression then you should question its authenticity. An example that comes to mind are the Hong Kong protests.
Any of these points being met warrants high suspicion of the protestors real reasons for protesting.
