Are you talking about specifically the USA? Because you’ve kept your priests, and treat your Presidents like de-facto kings, their reigns may end but Presidents they remain.
This is another Trump special, really. There’s no shortage of titles for the dictator, including just keeping “president”, and he picked the one that’s hardest to defend in terms of the American mythology.
