Black and white photos of candidates appear on Élections Montréal website as part of pilot project
Would it be so hard to have a “photo day”, at the beginning of the campaign, with a hired photographer (maybe someone who does school pictures?) who would be the same one for every candidate (so there can be no favoritism) and who can already demonstrate that they know how to take pictures of different skin tones successfully?
Also, who’s the genius who decided that a photocopy was required, in 2025? I can understand maybe if the photo was just meant to keep a paper trail of some kind, but if a picture is meant to be electorate-facing, at least make it so bonne of the steps will degrade the quality.
“The party adjusted its photos to a black-and-white setting and adjusted the proportions to mimic passport sizing.” Sound like the candidates provided themself the bad pictures and then complained ?
They were forced to get pictures at the pharmacy for “standardization”, which got mailed in and poorly scanned in by the elections board.
