Hello all, I would like to ask what are your favourite works analyzing the specific ways bourgeois class power is manifested in liberal democracy.
For me things that come to mind in Canada are party leadership fees in the hundreds of thousands of dollars; revolving doors where certain BC premiers crush ecological revolts then get sinecures for fossil fuel companies; the whole phenomenon of bourgeois democracy as theatre or spectacle where politcians are measuring conversion rates in dollars to votes, this being the more indirect mechanism, where capital can be turned into public opinion through mass messaging bombardment.
But I could seriously use a specific study of this stuff.
Democracy or Bonapartism; Two centuries of war on democracy - Domenico Losurdo
I am also interested in any readings on class prejudice or in other words how class hierarchy has been manifested in subjective factors especially from a Marxist using hist mat.
Liberalism; a counter history - Losurdo
Thanks, I have this one, so I’ll start there~
