At this point, Bruno can retire/leave the Premier League as one of the best offensive midfielders in 21st Century. There are loads of stats as him creating more chances than anyone else (including Kevin De Bruyne who’s also an amazing chance creator).

I really don’t get the excuses of Hojlund having ‘shit service’ in the Premier League given who’s playing next to, but Hojlund is suddenly a lethal goalscorer in the UCL.

Because the stats that show Bruno is the most creative midfielder in the league seem exist to show the limitations of stats, or at least, how they’re constantly misused.

Most stats people quote are essentially an exercise in evidencing a teams style of play and how much possession they have.

Sure but also because Man United’s “system” seems to be attacking the wide channels. But Rashford, Antony and Garnacho will either try to beat a man or recycle backwards. If we had a stout midfield trio, and wingers that knew how to COLLABORATE with their midfielders, Bruno would have more space and smarter runs to pick out his attackers. If you were to plug and play Bruno into KDBs role at City, he’d be rolling in assists. If you plug and play KDB into United right now, he’d struggle.

*disclaimer, I think KDB is far more controlled / poised than Bruno so this is not to say that they’re exactly the same player - more that the systems help and hinder them each respectively.

Exactly, showing only chances created doesn’t include the fact Bruno played around 900 minutes more than KDB last season…

I half agree with this. I think the limitation of stats is often that they need to be considered alongside other relevent stats, or sometimes of course there is context that stats cant capture.

In terms of Bruno his creativity stats are completely justified. I believe he is one of the most imaginative midfielders the premier league has ever seen and has the technique to capitalise on this. However, this comes at the cost of huge risk. His pass accruacy is usually around 75% which is really low and makes it much harder for United to control a game. Compare that to the likes of KDB (pass accuracy of over 80%) who may not create as much but helps his team win by choosing the right times to go for the killer ball.

In this aspect that additional stat is what is needed to add the relevant context.

Every time Bruno passes it to a player who shoots from distance and it goes flying into the stand - that counts as a “chance created”

Now think about how many times that happens per 90, and then think about how many clear cut opportunities Bruno creates.

      Stop deliberately misrepresenting stats.
