At this point, Bruno can retire/leave the Premier League as one of the best offensive midfielders in 21st Century. There are loads of stats as him creating more chances than anyone else (including Kevin De Bruyne who’s also an amazing chance creator).

I really don’t get the excuses of Hojlund having ‘shit service’ in the Premier League given who’s playing next to, but Hojlund is suddenly a lethal goalscorer in the UCL.
Because champions league games are more open so he gets more opportunities. In the league teams are more solid and defensive against United.
Less opportunities = less goals. Simples.
There was an article on this recently which basically said there’s a combination of things.
Apparently he hasn’t had a chance created for him in the last 160 minutes of PL football so there is an argument he hasn’t gotten great service. Rashford and Antony have been incredibly poor this season meaning it has been left to Bruno to create for him but it just hasn’t worked clicked massively yet - the whole of United has been pretty rubbish. But despite that all according to PL date he’s missed six big chances whilst only having 11 shots all season with only four of those 11 being on target.
Not sure why he’s scoring in the CL compared to the PL - maybe because teams are setting out to try get a positive result with it being a group stage so there’s more space to get in behind? But he’s still massively raw and young so you’d assume he will score in the PL at some point.
Hard agree with the PL/CL observation, we all know that teams like Fulham, palace, and Brentford are going to sit deep and play low block football Vs United. I know you mentioned that Hojlund missed many big chances in the Prem but I personally don’t think you can play both Hojlund and Rashford upfront, I don’t think Rashford has shown that he is capable of getting the ball to Hojlund on a consistent basis.
Utd forwards have seemed really selfish, like Chelsea’s, in the highlights I’ve seen. So often the team mate is crying out for a sideways pass and it never comes.
lol
You say you don’t get the excuse of him not getting the service in the PL but can you point to any games where he’s missed loads of chances? How are they defining chances in the Bruno stats? If he passes to Rashford and he shoots from 25 yards, does that count as Bruno creating a chance for Rashford? It’s a stat that seems weird when it’s well known that one of United’s main issues at the moment is that they’re struggling to create chances. They win the ball in the opposition half and then don’t seem to know what to do with it.
Because the stats that show Bruno is the most creative midfielder in the league seem exist to show the limitations of stats, or at least, how they’re constantly misused.
Most stats people quote are essentially an exercise in evidencing a teams style of play and how much possession they have.
Sure but also because Man United’s “system” seems to be attacking the wide channels. But Rashford, Antony and Garnacho will either try to beat a man or recycle backwards. If we had a stout midfield trio, and wingers that knew how to COLLABORATE with their midfielders, Bruno would have more space and smarter runs to pick out his attackers. If you were to plug and play Bruno into KDBs role at City, he’d be rolling in assists. If you plug and play KDB into United right now, he’d struggle.
*disclaimer, I think KDB is far more controlled / poised than Bruno so this is not to say that they’re exactly the same player - more that the systems help and hinder them each respectively.
Exactly, showing only chances created doesn’t include the fact Bruno played around 900 minutes more than KDB last season…
Its per 90 pal
Which link is? I was talking about him creating the most chances in the league last season
I half agree with this. I think the limitation of stats is often that they need to be considered alongside other relevent stats, or sometimes of course there is context that stats cant capture.
In terms of Bruno his creativity stats are completely justified. I believe he is one of the most imaginative midfielders the premier league has ever seen and has the technique to capitalise on this. However, this comes at the cost of huge risk. His pass accruacy is usually around 75% which is really low and makes it much harder for United to control a game. Compare that to the likes of KDB (pass accuracy of over 80%) who may not create as much but helps his team win by choosing the right times to go for the killer ball.
In this aspect that additional stat is what is needed to add the relevant context.
Every time Bruno passes it to a player who shoots from distance and it goes flying into the stand - that counts as a “chance created”
Now think about how many times that happens per 90, and then think about how many clear cut opportunities Bruno creates.
Stop deliberately misrepresenting stats.
Best creator. Please just don’t. Laziest most wasteful pretend 10 in the langue I’ll go with.
PL clubs are far more tactically disciplined than their European counterparts. Thus, it is harder to break down the average PL side when your playmaking ability is suspect. Let’s be honest, other than Bruno United has no creativity, so all you need to do is the mark out Bruno and Hojlund won’t be getting much chances to score
Teams set up differently in the PL to the CL, and I’d argue that he’s probably been up against better defensive units in the PL at times.
The chances he got in midweek (2 yard tap ins) haven’t been there in the PL, so it’s the quality of pass he’s had into those areas (if at all), and the way the defences have been set up too. The goals will come, he’ll just need to keep making the runs and poaching.
Best creator😂😂
His xG in 8 games in the prem is 1.36. He’s hardly blazing 5 shots over the bar every week.
