In a post from a few days ago, I noticed that someone mentioned that they were afraid to post about their dislike of the Tudor BB58 for fear of downvoting. You know what? The BB is a boring watch that’s not worth the money, and Tudor wouldn’t be half as popular as it is without the connection to Rolex. If Rolexes were as attainable as they were in past years, cut that by a factor of 10. Would you really buy a BB if the reality were that you could just save a little bit more and get a Rolex Submariner? That’s my hot take. What’s yours?
Watch nerds are usually the least underwater group of people I’ve ever met and NEEDING high water resistance in a watch is silly (most of the time).
200m of resistance is more than enough for the majority of people. Which makes the comments about the difference between the Pelagos and the Pelagos FXD funny to me
50m is more than enough for most people
What if I get caught in the rain? I’m too fat to run and too poor to own a car.
I got caught in the rain whilst wearing my Speedy one day last year (rated to 50M WR), so posted a pic of it with raindrops on the dial on the Omega sub and jokingly asked if I should throw it away now. The amount of replies suggesting that I should do stuff like put it in a bowl of rice was depressingly hilarious.
Caught doing what in the rain?
The werewolf subset can hide their watch under their arm fur. At least that’s what I do
Yay! Someone hit on one of my biggest pet peeves, so I get to talk about it.
Let’s be honest… There are a ton of dive watch owners that will never swim with their watch even though they could. The average person just doesn’t like wearing a watch in the water and if they are, they’d rather it do stuff like track heartrate and distance as opposed to just time
It’s the same reason why people “need” AWD or 4WD on their car which they never use outside a city in decent weather…
