    I trust AI will be a useful technology; but even in a socialist economy GenAI is still garbage with negative societal worth

      Yes, the photography argument that clearly lays out the absurdity of the whole thing. The moral panic you’re pursuing is not new, and if you actually bothered to engage in dialectical thinking you’d be able to apply the lessons from photography to the current moment.

      Oh right, AI is going to be useful in all these many areas, just not the one you arbitrarily singled out for no discernible reason. This is precisely the point that many people here have already pointed out to you. What you’re doing is claiming that art is some magical feature that is a product of the human soul that cannot be replicated be material means. It’s idealism at its finest.
