I’m in the US, have a master’s degree and a decade worth of experience. Prior to starting a family, I traveled extensively and loved exploring cultures. I can’t stand the southern US anymore. It’s just me and my children now (12, 8 and 3) and we have nothing to keep us tied to the US. I dream of a place with a rainforest, or other unique landscape. I speak English and took latin, so I can somewhat read and understand most latin based languages enough to get by. I’m currently pursuing my PhD and teach at the local college part time in addition to my work in my field. I have considered making the leap over into a full professorship.

I think ultimately I just want to find a place where we belong, or embrace the fact that we don’t belong and just explore this amazing world. If we are going to be a little family with no support, we can be that anywhere.

First identify what countries you can get legal residency

    Marriage

    Ancestry

    Visa sponsoring job

Study abroad/ working holiday visa/ nomad visa

    Investment visa/retirement visa.

Those are typical ways people can obtain permanent or temporary legal residency in foreign country.

Once you have the list of the countries you can legally migrate, it will be easy to identify country that fits your criteria the closest.

Be extra mindful of migrating with teenager. They are the most at risk of being negatively effected by migration.
