How generous of them to do that when they know there’s a snowball’s chance in hell it will go anywhere.
I wonder, if the DEMs forcing the GOP to cancel bills that are popular and make sense to the common voter makes the GOP look bad, and is a strategy for the midterms. Whatcha think?
If they were in any way competent at messaging like that, we wouldn’t be in the position we’re in.
Fair. And I see a lot of ‘why are the dems bothering to do action A, B, or C, when it won’t go anywhere?’ but with no thought as to what they could or should actually do. If the dems act, I see criticism, and if the dems don’t act I see criticism, all without any actual ‘hey, what if they did THIS’. Maybe you see the same thing, in conversations with folx, ‘dang this sux, dang that is intolerable’ but for me those conversations that don’t lead anywhere are incredibly demoralizing. I can’t just leave it hanging with ‘well gee willikers I guess there’s nothing to be done.’ It’s dysfunctional, demotivating, and depressing. So I’d rather my reps, who I’m paying good money to do something, actually try to do something.
Same, and I’d really like people to treat actions as steps in the right direction and not a step backwards if things aren’t magically fixed with one sweeping action.
Honestly, I imagine that’s part of the Republican messaging strategy. And should be part of the Democratic messaging going forward. “We’re not magicians, we’re not going to fix everything with a snap of our fingers and a wave of our hands. It’s going to take time, and a great deal of effort. It’s also going to take more than showing up once every two to four years for the average citizen. Vote in primaries, vote in run-offs, vote in your local town council elections. Those are the races that are going to have the most significant personal impacts, not national races.”
