I can’t really talk to anyone about this.

As I already wrote, I just feel bad in the cold and darkness. I’ve tried everything but it just doesn’t work.

I live in Germany btw.

I can only live properly for a few months a year, then the whole thing starts over again.

Why southern Italy?

I come from the coast of Croatia, which has a lot of Italian influences, which I have always liked and because it is warm all year round in the south of Italy.

Furthermore, I just like it there, I can’t really describe it.

I don’t want to go to Croatia anymore, I’m fed up with the Balkans.

I just wanted to get this off my chest, for many people something like this is probably completely unthinkable but I’m not getting any younger either.

You should try taking vitamin D supplements!

In some cases that can help and its always good to get your vitamin D in the winter

I’m in the UK and the days are short and depressing. Try vitamin tablets. You might be low on certain vitamins which will make you feel low

I fully understand you. I am from Turkey and went to Germany to study for a couple of years when I was 21 years old. Life led to other things and I stayed for 13 years. Every winter I was getting depressed. I tried vitamins and solariums. Nothing really helped. At the end I decided to move back to Turkey. The weather plays a very important role in our wellbeings. Especially if you were born and raised in a sunny country, living up north can push you into depression. On top of that comes the limited socialisation which changes from country to country but very hard to exceed mediterannean hospitality and social opennes.

Sounds like a solid plan to me. And luckily you’re able to do so. When I moved abroad the only reason I had, really, was that I visited this place and thought I would like it. So then I moved. Now I am a citizen and have a family here and a job but when I first came it was really just that…I felt like it.

And for me, being somewhere without winter is important too. It’s not trivial! winter is hell. I live in one of the hottest countries in the world now lol.

I’m in Morocco right now, it’s 30 plus degrees every day and sunny and I still have seasonal depression terribly. Just so you know, it might not help. I’m thinking about moving to the equator but I just found out that even in the Philippines people get seasonal depression so I guess there is just no escape.

I feel really bad for you and am very curious as the reason for your sadness/ depression. I am not going to compare Europe to Latin America ok I know Europe is very nice especially Italy BUT if climate really makes you happier I can assure you oir climate here in Guatemala is very very nice and less extreme than any European country. By the way we are kinda culturally good hosts and very happy people. ( Most of Latin America is) you should come by and experience it. Don’t forget who told you! You won’t regret it.

I don’t want to go back to Croatia, I’m fed up with the Balkans.

Do you mind if I ask why this is? It’s a place I’ve always wanted to visit.

Yo,broo, the same problem was. I just came to Crimea (I from Saint-Petersburg) for 3 months on summer. Worked there like a cleaner in children’s camp in the morning (from 5am to 10 am) and rest of the day I spend on the beach one-to-one with yourself. The best doctor it is a nature, sun, see(ocean) and meditation. I believe in you! Wish you a good luck

I’m an Italian from Palermo, although I now live abroad. If you need any info from a local, AMA.
