What are your thoughts? How would it shape the future of the game tactically? Which style of play or manager would have the most success?
I would say that a high press system that relies on mitigating counter attacks by catching the opponent offside might suffer the most. For example - Ange’s high line defense against Chelsea in their 4-1 loss.
I just don’t understand this rule at all. Isn’t the whole point of the offside rule so offensive players can’t just get absurd head starts on defenders with momentum as defenders need to turn and then start to pick up speed?
Just seams really dumb tbh and doesn’t make any sense. Why hold any line at all if players can just run full speed past you with a huge window of success. Teams are gonna play a back three not sitting higher than the edge of their own box.
No, the point of Offside is to stop people goal hanging.
It makes the game flow better, stops these ridiculous mm Offsides that give absolutely zero advantage to a player and will create more goals which is better for the sport.
Obviously agree about the point of offside, but don’t get how you think it will stop the ridiculous mm offsides? Really not a fan tbh I get that there would be more goals initially but long term I don’t think the game would improve as it would just encourage defending very deep.
But it doesn’t stop the MM offsides lol
Exactly. Same thing will happen
