Hello! I am currently waiting on a new AMD GPU (7900 XT). I currently have an Nvidia card (RTX 3070). I am running Ubuntu 23.10. Do I need to download and install new drivers before I get the AMD card, or will it be plug and play? Thank you!

Prime offload is pretty good on Wayland But if you’re already bought it, doesn’t Matter

Probably add kisak mesa repository if they offer packages for your Ubuntu version, then do a system update. That’s all if you want just gaming.

If you need openCL, blender you will need ROCm packages.

When I switched from nVidia to AMD I just decided to reinstall my entire OS.

AMD GPUs on Linux do not need Extra Drivers, the drivers come with the Kernel already so would you only need to remove the nvidia drivers and it should just work
