Quite honestly I can’t stand only a few books that I’ve read, recently The Awakening by Nora Roberts.

Holy crap, do I reallllyyyyy want my money back. I was bored. So. Bored. The magic system was subpar, the characters just….ew, everything was so, so boring. The MC is an idiot.

What book is a zero star read for you?

Thank you! It was part of my answer before I checked out other responses. Although I have two books I would give 0 stars to, I still think this one is worse.

I agree. Basically a stream of consciousness from someone trying to sound wise.

This is the most eloquent way of putting it. It felt to me like conman trying to sell you on something, it was essentially just a string of buzzwords to distract you from how shallow any of the author’s views and supporting arguments really were.

“If Books Could Kill” just did an episode on this one. Ever read it, but definitely don’t feel like I missed out 😂

You might like this episode of If Books Could Kill.

Great podcast. They just, rightfully, shit on the worst self-help books we’ve all heard of. Rich Dad Poor Dad, Men are From Mars, The Secret. Actually smart funny guys too.

The author co-opted the stories of folks who have faced actual hardships and presented them in a “groundbreaking,” edgy way. He can f*ck right off.

It’s definitely not for everyone. I guess you just give a fuck too much. It’s a subtle art you know.

I have a friend who was so excited when she bought this. She was attracted to the title. She didn’t read the book beyond that. When a book stands in as a marketing gimmick…

It’s “letting go” and stoicism in a modern jacket. I can understand many people found value in it, but meh too tryhard. You give this book as a quirky or edgy present to someone, but within safe social norms. He hit his commercial mark, so yeah the goal of the book suceeded and he got rich.

I haven’t read it, but I read his other book “Everything is F*cked: A Book About Hope” and I enjoyed it

It wins the award for the most Reddit title of all time. I get irrationally angry whenever I see it at the bookstore
