Just got an offer to work in Luanda, Angola for 1 year. I’ve been there twice but just for 15 days each time, so it will be a bit of a change in my life.Anyone here currently working there? What are some suggestions you can give me?

    So you accepted a job offer in Luanda based on 2 visits you made there for 2 weeks each? A “bit of a change” you say?

    You give no info about why there of all places, what you actually do, what you will be doing there, your work experience, your compensation…nothing. No info means we cant help. Post more info and maybe we can help.

      Your response makes me wonder if you have you ever been an expat for work!? Most people move to countries they have never been. You need to take a chill pill. Also, if you are an expat and work in certain industries, why would you put any private/identifying/ detailed info on Reddit? Use your brain and think about why most expats like in Angola. It might be the easiest country to guess what industry.

    Currently in Luanda! Personally I love it, but you will hear a lot of negative things about it. It’s got its problems just like most places. Food is great if you like seafood, people are friendly, music is great. If you are white don’t walk around the city by yourself at night. I can get most things that I want here. Let me know if you have specific questions.

      I’m a geologist. I’ve wanted to come here for over 10 years because of how complex and diverse the geology is here. It hasn’t disappointed yet.

      In my case, it’s actually insane how my salary is 4/5x higher in Angola compared to Portugal. Decided to take this opportunity for 1 year and when it ends I will see
