I’m confused as well. I thought Maduro was very very obviously and unanimously considered to be a bad guy. It’s a little shocking, but surprising that anyone in the western world would be upset about it.

Because of the precedent it sets. Just like Trump’s deportation of immigrants without due process, sure, IF the immigrant in question actually IS a dangerous criminal, it works out fine. But by normalizing the power without due process and checks and balances you virtually guarantee that eventually the power will be used against someone who ISN’T “unanimously considered to be a bad guy”.

Yes, but it’s like an addict quitting their addiction… the longer they go since the last time they did it, the more people can plausibly hope that they’ve kicked the habit.

Now the clock is reset. I don’t believe it is impossible for a government or a people to grow, change, and improve over time without the need for a massive, violent upheaval to force it, but it’s EXTREMELY easy to show that they have NOT, and we got to see that today.

Your news media does not exist to inform you. That seeming obvious and unanimously held impressions is their purpose. There’s 2 problems.

      1. US committing any evil it wants.
      2. Can a communist sharing of resource wealth among the people be a legitimate preference even if CIA would prefer that its state champions be able to steal the resources without local taxes/royalties, and then the CIA disapproving of that preference sufficient to conclude the government illegitimate?

Certainly a 3rd problem would be that CIA aligned media creating your impressions, and normalizing the operation.
