My wife and I are in our mid 60’s and retired. We are horrified about possibility of the USA electing a fascist dictator in 2024 and are looking for resources who can coach us in how to relocate and move enough of our money to live on should the USA go in that direction.

We’re considering Panama and Costa Rica. Portugal looks really nice but is seems the favorable tax status is being recinderd.

Any advice regarding resources would be a good start for us. We will probably be taking a trip or 2 to scout things out in the spring.

I have concerns about your media diet. To say nothing of posting this in an international forum where there are likely fellow members who have experienced actual fascism or actual dictatorship.

    Happy Thanksgiving.

If they’ve experienced actual fascism, then they can understand OP wanting to get the fuck away from potentially rising fascism, which there are plenty of signs of happening in America. So maybe get off your high horse?

It has nothing to do with media. The social fabric of the USA has come undone. It is a toxic mess that is virtually inescapable wherever you go in the country (unless you move to a freaking cabin in the woods).

I think there are more problems with America than Trump becoming President. The state of how it is now…

You obviously haven’t been listening to the news. Europe is moving to the right-Note the NL elections and the far-right Islamaphobic leader who is now in power. Dublin has had riots from right wing scumbags.

And oddly, I had Thanksgiving with people from different political views. We made a “no politics” pact and actually had a great time talking about vacations, movies, etc.

I don’t know where you plan on going because there is no Utopia. The US for all its faults seems to be halfway stable. If you really are that worried, maybe help out getting out the vote for next year’s election. Be part of the solution.

Have you read Trump’s campaign page Agenda 47?

I agree that the USA is not in imminent danger but Nationalism is on the rise in several countries. While different from facism, it should be a concern. Also I recognize that if it wasn’t Trump, it would probably be someone else.
