Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•hello Fediverse! how do neurodivergent peeps get jobs?
22·7 days agoLook towards working in government in your jurisdiction. In ours, government still permits at least partial work from home arrangements, and has staff support networks, reasonable adjustments and management training for neurodivergence in the workforce. It doesn’t pay private sector salaries but risks are lower.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What is one or more pieces of media you've consumed that kept making more content but needed to just end?
3·7 days agoBad Gear. Florian is definitely scraping the barrel for crusty synths when he turns his attention to plugins.
This was great content. I wasn’t aware Kryptonite had a new lock in this segment and it looks awesome! Still pretty satisfied with my Hiplok chain for portability but if I get an e-bike the vultures will be circling…

Fuck Cars@lemmy.world•Why there's no quick fix in sight for the problem of dazzling headlightsEnglish
2·8 days agoIdk, as a cyclist I’ve been blinded at night by other cyclists as often as cars.
Don’t mistake me, I have plenty of reasons to share the “fuck cars” ethos, but LED headlights aren’t even in the top 10.
This, and working with a team, and working towards the public good. Building successful teams, improving processes, implementing efficient and sustainable systems - all good fun to achieve.
That said these take weeks and months to accomplish where I work. I’d love to be a chef where the results of my labour was more … immediate.

Mildly Interesting@lemmy.world•Life expectancy in U.S. States and Select Countries
4·9 days agoActually, not especially homogeneous. Australia is fantastically multicultural with an indigenous population who have dramatically lower life expectancies, for complex reasons. But we have universal healthcare and governments that care, which makes a huge difference.
What’s really interesting is Japan. Private health but high quality and reasonably affordable. I reckon their figures are also propped up by generational longevity which will diminish as the elderly die off and shitty western lifestyles creep in with the youth.

An excellent reminder to shop at markets where you can, and grow your own where you’re able to
