5·5 days agoAfter having had long hair for a while, decided I wanted to go with a new style of hair and snipped it off. Uneven in some places here and there, but that’s something I can fix later on.
Soirhyle@aussie.zonetoAustralian Tech@aussie.zone•what's your daily driver OS (Linux edition)?English
5·14 days agoBeen using Linux Mint - Cinnamon starting over two years ago just before Spring. Made the decision to take the plunge when at the time, Windows 10 was going to lose support in 2025 and hated the idea of upgrading to Windows 11. Glad I made that leap, because it’s been a pretty good experience and everything felt like a breath of fresh air, especially since you can actually change the fonts of everything on the desktop as well like you could Windows 7 and earlier iterations of that OS and I can even still do the gaming that I enjoy, what with proton and even Heroic.
Even decided to get a 1TB drive for my Zenbook and pop Linux Mint onto that. Since then, no computers I have, be it laptop, or even netbook have any iteration of Windows.
As for the netbook, an EEE PC 1000HE model, I would take it with me to a library just to mess about with it, which has MX Linux running on it, which sadly the 32-bit version will lose support in 2028, which is a bit of a shame.
Thank you so much for hosting this lovely place. It has been a peaceful place from all the louder places of the web and it still is.

Australia@aussie.zone•Australia may risk a diplomatic spat with the Trump administration if it limits the viewing of a US executionEnglish
17·25 days agoWho cares if there’s a spat with the United States after this? If this nation can inconvenience its own populace with age-gates like they’ve been doing with these age restricted codes and standards as well as the social media ban for under 16s, they can make some sort of effort, however half-assed it might be to block the viewing of such barbarism should the US actually go through with it.
The United States continues to be the embarrassment of the world and we’ve been America’s bitch plenty long enough at this point.

4·26 days agoBeen pretty nice a day, despite the fact I woke up and suddenly had a migraine and ended up laying down in bed for a good amount of hours. Hours that could have been spent playing about on my C64U and working toward completing Briley Witch Chronicles.

Australian Politics@aussie.zone•New Greens leader: No weapons for Ukraine, curtail the US allianceEnglish
31·1 month agoIn agreement, the Greens are still a better option than what Labor’s offering, given how things are with that party sucking up to the demands of the US, among other things. An end to the nonsense that is AUKUS would be more than beneficial for this country, and the recreational use of cannabis would be most beneficial, especially for those who live with chronic pain.
I have hoped and still have hope things can be turned around by the Greens, as they are a true refresher from the uniparty.

5·1 month agoThey said they wanted to replace Labor. This isn’t how it’s fucking done, at all. As someone who has hoped the Greens could fix things one day, what in the everloving name of fuck is wrong with them!?

2·2 months agoNah, don’t think we will. We are absolutely superior in terms of safety so we should be allowed to gloat in sheer arrogance and rub it in as much as we can.
When it comes to being safe, we are kings!

Seriously though, screw these age-restricted codes being spewed and being an inconvenience to everyone on this part of the marble.

6·11 months agoThis would be actually one of the better ways to verify. No faces involved, and the government gets its wish of verification. A win for everyone. Now if all other sites followed this, would make things plenty easier at the least.

3·11 months agoSo, would posting at a not a bar, but a restaurant that also sells alcohol with a user name written with something like Rekorderlig (Swedish brand of Cider) also be acceptable? If so, I think that just might be doable. Better than being obliged to show a face at all.

I used to shave my head bald a few years back whenever just before the start of a new season. 2024 was when I decided I’d let my hair grow to where it was prior to my decision to start a new style.
