Oh that’s neat; I have heard they were paid but I didn’t know it was seasonal work.

I was barely technical enough to get Mint running so I don’t think I’ll be hopping on this particular train at the moment. But it’s nice to see, though. And if it does turn out in a few years that putting AI into the kernel was a mistake, then I think we’ll all be glad for all the projects like this that sprung up.
Hopefully they can give at least a little thought to user friendliness between now and then, lol.

Does sending large files still work if the other person has a different provider, or do they have to be using Thundermail as well?

Thunderbird in case you want to check it out
Oh, I shall indeed check it out.
Specifically, I would look for “archival paper,” which is made for exactly this purpose.

From the abstract of the actual report:
“The audit found that none of the examined meta-analyses provided a valid basis for the claims they advanced: none had a coherent construct, none sufficiently assessed publication bias, and all had severe heterogeneity. Statistics were misapplied, miscalculated, and misinterpreted. A majority of the randomly vetted primary studies were problematic, most commonly because the outcome measured didn’t match the meta-analysis.”
For example, it mentions further in that of the 49 studies examined, six did not have a control group.
The giveaway for me is the color grading. It’s as if the entire image had a layer of brown or yellow layered over it- not as strong as the classic yellow one but it’s definitely there.

John Stewart has always been a bothsidser though, it’s not like a trick or anything. His style made a lot of sense when things were ““normal”” (like back in 2008) but it doesn’t really jive with me in the current landscape.
Of course, you could argue that that’s exactly what the technofeudalists want…

That first photo is just pure cinema, lol. “Moments before disaster” type stuff.
Anyway I wanted to say thanks for posting these;
In addition to the occasional gem of photography, this ongoing saga is just one of those things that make lemmy feel like it’s actually inhabited by real people. I have no idea how you have time for all these games though. XD

This reminds me of something I’ve been thinking for a while: “why is ‘alignment’ such a big deal with AI?”
You would never ask whether a hammer or a wrench is ‘aligned’ with humanity, because inanimate objects don’t have goals in the first place, so there’s nothing to align- only sentient creatures have goals. 🤔
…
…
“Is ‘alignment’ just slavery with extra steps?!”
…
I think if they are actively going out of their way to paint AI as sentient, then tbh yea it kinda seems like they just have a slave fantasy. Which, like, I’m not gonna kink shame. But maybe someone should tell Anthropic to keep it in the bedroom like the rest of us. 🤷

It’s possible that I was overly quick to judge, but the comment seems to be gone now so I guess we’ll never know. 🤷

I think it’s kinda cute, tbh. Too bad the comment itself an obnoxious bit of trolling.

very cute

Oh, I’m not defending copyright- I just think that everyone should play by the same rules.

Just donated 50 euro- give 'em heck boys. o7

Did you know you can actually turn off your watch history, and it will stop recommending videos entirely?
I did it a while back to help stop me from refresh-addiction, and it totally works! You still get a subscription feed but it’s chronological, and it will still suggest relevant videos in the sidebar when you’re watching something.
Why stop at just a taste?

Oh my gosh, I recognize that cat!! I just looked it up, and yea sure enough there’s a program called oneko that will make a cat chase your cursor around the desktop like that.
And if you go to the website with it on… two cats!!
Wow, that must have been ages ago; I feel like they’ve known HIV caused AIDS for like, literally since before I was born?!
