i got on board as an osm volunteer because I figure more people are probably looking to switch away from google and I could help. initially when google first came out I thought the idea of “google guides” was kinda neat, at least in theory. i think adding to the osm project is a good way of achieving a similar goal. also, i have been using organic maps on graphene for years and it’s done well enough by me. ymmv

i’m an avid birder. i’m out in the field frequently and follow the science on birds rather than the personal anecdotes of internet strangers. habitat destruction and fragmentation, climate change, and the built environment (night time lighting, skyscrapers/windows) are all major factors affecting bird populations. i wish what you’re reporting were reflected in the science, but i don’t see it.
