Alright so I am a new British NFL fan after loving Jason and Travis Kelce’s podcast so when picking a team to support I keep gravitating towards the raiders. Probably coz of the badass stadium and name and the great history ( I just love the idea of winning with a bunch of unwanted players ). But it looks like the Raiders aren’t exactly great right now so I’m just wondering if I should just take the easy route and support someone like the eagles or the chiefs. Note that I am a Manchester United fan and if you know we are kinda shit rn (fuck the glazers) and I kinda want to support a team that doesn’t just give me misery. But I just keep coming back to the raiders. What should I do ?

Who cares dude. When I got into watching the NBA for some reason I fell in love with the Orlando Magic. I had no idea what teams or players were good, I just somehow liked them. Turns out, they were utter trash and for most of their history they have been. I got stuck with them and I’ve watched them compete for the top pick in the draft year after year. Then finally at the end of last year, the Magic played good basketball. The season was already over, but it was fun watching them. Now, they’re 12-5 and 2nd in the conference, while also most likely making the in season tournament playoffs. I am really, really enjoying watching them this season, because I’ve suffered a lot, but also because I saw this team grow and get better and I was there for all of it.

I am also a fan of Manchester City (yeah, screw you too mate). Yaya Toure is my favorite player of all time and I really liked the fact that him and his brother both played for the same team. As I’m sure you know, right around that time City started to become one of the most dominant clubs in professional football. I watched every game and cheered them on, but I found myself watching less and less the less Yaya played (Kolo hadn’t been a part of the squad for a long time at that point). They kept winning, but it just didn’t feel the same. It felt and it still feels like I didn’t really deserve all that success.

TLDR: nothing better than supporting a losing team that then starts winning. If you’re just there for the good times, you’re not a fan.
