Customers want EVs, but American ICE manufacturers are saying: “NO! YOU DEMAND ICE CARS.”
Note that the Ukraine War and subsequent indirectly related Iran War will be collectively referred to as The Last Oil War by historians. Trump attacking Venezuela and threatening Canada (Tar Sands) and Greenland are part of this same dynamic.
We truly are at that moment, which DOESN’T mean ICE cars are going away tomorrow along with all fossil fuel use, but the momentum is now undeniable by even the most powerful world powers beyond a certain point and in many ways these wars and acts of political chaos are desperate final attempts to stall the coming end of the Oil Age at a root level.
Most of our leaders chose war over embracing the Solar & EV era, thank goodness their choices were futile against the rising tide.
Man… being disappointed to hear this because of thinking it was the other ICE at first.
Ahh yes, the polar ICE caps that have 37% melted.
took me three tries for my brain to figure out what ice was gone
The SMART thing to Do in This Situation is to ELIMINATE our EV Producing Capabilities and go ALL IN on ICE!
-Major Car Manufacturers!
Somewhere a middle manager at
KODAKFord is talking about how they can corner the market on35mm filmbloated trucks. This is Executive hubris through and through. No one can tell these guys “no” within the company
Given that Ford mostly gave up on building cars, what else do they have?
Maybe for world sales, but in the US the propaganda is strong and a ton of people are anti-EV purely for political reasons.
US car sales make up 20% of the global market. It is enough to keep a bunch of old car makers alive, but they are going to have problems to export their cars and foreign cars will be cheaper and better due to higher production numbers and competition. Also at least some in the US understand that EVs are superior.
EDIT: This is going to impact oil producers as well. So less money for lobbying.
It’s only a matter of time
Blocking Chinese EVs too. Don’t want that pesky competition.
The US will become an increasingly isolated market, and thus increasingly irrelevant. Big enough to continue supporting some of its domestic manufacturers at a smaller scale, but the rest of the world can move on without them.
And “the big 3” well, 2 really are left, won’t exist for much longer.
at least 70million people are anti-EV, and ford is thier biggest customer base, or they only buy the shittiest one, tesla.
Aren’t they mostly anti-EV out of spite or out of not accepting they were wrong? I don’t really see how it’s really a political stance.
In my experience, a lot of Republicans are anti-EV, even after Trump all but gave Elon a blowjob on the White House lawn hawking Teslas.
Republicans have been shills for oil companies for decades - claiming that climate change is a hoax and doing their best to curb emissions standards. As a result, most of their voting base sees EVs as a made up solution to a problem that doesn’t exist - and have a fairly hostile attitude towards them.
When I first started driving an EV, it was fairly common for people to cut me off in traffic or refuse to let me merge. Much more so than when driving a gas car.
Yes but there isn’t really a rational political thought behind it. Sure maybe you’re pro oil for some dumb reason, but it’s not like the oil industry is going away because of EV’s. From an economical standpoint, EV’s just make more sense these days. And I feel that’s why they are pissed off because their only jelling option has gone away, well besides maybe ‘think about the range!’.
If you’re only affliction with it is because your party says so, then forgive my French but, you’re officially clinically retarded.
I agree, but I’m also continually amazed at the amount of bullshit talking points they continue to come up with. My neighbor is full blown Republican, like has Fox News running 24/7 in his house. I gave his kid a ride to school and his kid told me that I should be paying more in taxes for my EV because it’s so heavy and destroying the roads (something he must’ve heard from his dad or the TV).
I pointed out that his dad’s Tahoe weighs 1,500 pounds more than my EV.
You know what, we actually do pay more. My state has a $240 or so ev surcharge on our annual registration.
I mean
part of this is probably that no one can afford a new car at all
i hate ICE cars too
but the fat lady has not sung. do not jump the gun!
that are slightly less bad than ICE cars. And that’s debatable.
