I do competition BBQ on occasion and I just want to say, that making good Texas style BBQ is not hard if you have the time and space. Once your smoker is dialed in it is just like using an oven, or even use a pellet grill. Grab a chuck roast and or a Boston butt and have some fun. No need to spend 50 bucks for a pound of mediocre BBQ from a joint anymore

    Prices are gonna get worse.

    Here is why.

China and the strait of hormuz are both responsible for providing the U.S with fertilizer.

And both are no longer providing this.

Here it is May. The Spring planting season. No fertilizer. No crops being planted.

Not to mention all the farm bankruptcies a few months back.

A lot of farming is needed for animal feed. Like. A fuck ton of it.

When the price of grains goes up due to an absolute certain crippled supply (come the fall), there will be mass culling of animal stock. And then mass layoffs and closures of animal farms.

The ones staying open will have to charge more than double.

You thought eggs were expensive last year?

Go ahead and set up a chicken coop in your back yard now cause that’s gonna be the only protein you can afford by this time next year.

Feed is going to at least double. So I suggest buying now. Vacuum bag it. Store it in cold dry dark place.

People don’t realize that things that happen today have big ramifications later.

Even if fertilizer is restored soon, it’s too late for this year.

YEAR. That means consequence of this will impact things for almost 2 years. Likely effects felt for a decade.

It’s going to get real bad.

Local owned small Restaurants who are already struggling with high food costs will close.

More fast food chains will go out too.

Don’t forget that alcohol relies on farms.

Bars will close. Vinyards will go babkrupt.

So much of the economy relies on the farming industry.

Exaggerated point. Much lower crops are being planted. Corn and wheat specifically for big crops.

But other types of vegetables too.

Do none of y’all watch the news?

With diesel cost sky rocketing and some necessary fertilizers increasing in cost, in addition to increasing farm bankruptcies from last year and this year it’s inevitable.

How can any of you honestly believe this isn’t going to have huge ramifications?

The US produces most of its fertilizer locally, and most of the fertilizer it does import comes from Canada.

But it will affect crop yields globally, which means what yields there are, will have to be spread thinner, raising prices. Same with oil prices. Our economy doesn’t exist in a vacuum. Shortages elsewhere still have an impact on us.

I agree, the US still has international exposure and will feel impacts from it. I mostly had issue with the claims that the US isn’t planting enough in 2026 and will have to cull livestock because of it. It’s just not true. Most of the planting has been done and is being fertilized with supply that was secured before the shock. 2027 will likely be the tougher year, but it still won’t be because the US can’t plant anything.

I’m hearing spikes in domestic costs for farmers here for one of the fertilizers used a lot. And smaller increases in some of the others.

And also we import a lot of food. So everyone affected, affects us.

Which is mostly what livestock feed is made from.

Spring wheat plantings expected at lowest since 1970.

That’s 56 years ago. Just to put in context. And wheat is a big part of American diets. Also used in animal feed.

Finally something that affects those of us on the up-end of the K shaped economy. I warned all my Centrist friends that if they voted Trump his bad economic policies would eventually rise up to affect them. Yet, I was the only Centrist I know of in all of Austin, TX who voted for Kamala. The rest of the Centrists were too worried about trans dudes taking over women’s sports and bathrooms, and said they had enough money to withstand, “whatever Trump does with the economy.” Fucking idiots, they could have saved the economy and the best BBQ in Texas (which is Austin of course).

By the US definition a Centrist would vote Democrat or Republican a roughly equal amount of times. I tend to be a traditional Democrat on social issues (not the populist Antifa nonsense), and a traditional Republican on economic issues (not the populist MAGA nonsense). This means at least for presidents my votes have been Bush, Bush, Obama, Obama, Trump, Biden, Harris. So I’ve tended slightly to the left on presidents. I’ve also tended to vote slightly to the right on governors and congressmen. Abbott has done a lot of good for Texas as an example, though I’ve always voted against Ted Cruz. Hope this helps!

          not the populist Antifa nonsense

No matter how much the fascists in office keep repeating it, there is no centralized “antifa” group. It’s applied to a diverse grouping of left-wing movements that seek to counteract the rise of Christian nationalist fascism, something that is sorely needed with the policies being enacted by the current administration.

And anyone who places more weight in lies about transgender women being a risk to cisgender women over the wellbeing of transgender people is not a centrist.

Bullshit, I’ve been on the Austin branch of Antifa’s hit list for 2 years now. They thankfully stopped stalking me when I installed cameras all over my house and car and startef conceal carrying. They are a bunch of wannabe tough guys who can’t shoot for shit. You would think they would hit the shooting range like the rest of us, but they have zero common sense and only care about ideals.

Relax, I don’t wish any harm on trans people, it is just my personal Christian opinion that they are confused and need help. Over half the country agrees with me, and I don’t see much good coming out if debating it with someone like you.

Your “personal Christian opinion” is not only wrong, but based on hateful ideology.

All right. I really like religious studies, I’m a Christian, although it goes much, much deeper than that. I’m gonna need a reason from Christ himself justifying your beliefs.

Now, regardless of nothing of the sort being mentioned by the Christ, why would you, a self-proclaimed proponent of loving everyone (Christian), insist on using rhetoric that you surely know is insulting and degrading to a group of people? Was it not Christ that said, if you see your brother stumble, first go to him? Then his family? It seems, in your haste judgments you’ve skipped some steps.

Lastly, this is why the western church is dying. Apostle Paul warned of things not in the Gospel dividing the Church. As such, you have not heeded his words. Christians casting harsh judgments, with condescension and arrogance is precisely why people hate us. And they are right to. You would be well to learn, and praise in it. You are a Christian, start acting like it.

Christians, the ultimate delusional “feelings over facts” people, here to lecture us again what the “American Center” is.

Elsewhere in this thread, this MFer said TPUSA was the center.

I now understand gulags and re-education camps.

I currently live in Europe, where since I’m an American, we routinely have conversations about how the US Democrats are further right than the right wing parties of my host country. Trans rights, motherfucker. Scratch a “centrist” and they start bitching about trans people like a typical far right bigot.

since we believe a man cannot become a woman.

Hey guess what, there’s trans people that think that too. So stop trying to turn women into men. We didn’t choose to be born how we were. No amount of your fucking throwing us in male prisons, denying us medical care, and hate criming us for fun is going to make us into your perfect little male ideal.

Fuck off with your “trans ideology” bullshit. Other people existing that you don’t like isn’t an ideology. You’re just an asshole.

Taste is subjective, and in your case there’s obviously no accounting for it.
