horrifically sappy post

I’ve never really been able to share my thoughts, grievances, experiences or interests without being told I’m annoying, should get back to work, complain too much, am doing so just to avoid work, should man up, or straight up being ignored. Of course there were a handful of exceptions (2 or 3 at most) before I joined lemmygrad, but they were quite limited in scope and I still had to do my best not to turn people off (undiagnosed 'tism and all). Having literally nobody but yourself to take you seriously is horrendously isolating. Even if this is just an online forum for MLs, knowing that someone will at least know what I’m going through and not tell me to “stop looking for excuses not to work” or to stop being soft, is genuinely comforting. Maybe it’s just that I’ve never had a safe space before, but now I know that I have somewhere to air my frustrations without being momentarily insulted. Never thought I’d call complete strangers comrades, but I never thought I would ever call anyone a comrade either. So, thanks. o7

Glad you’re enjoying it here. I think I’ve personally been able to mellow out as a person and get more comfortable in my own skin since finding this place myself.

It helps that I’m not constantly arguing with folks and can expect a base level of mutual respect among comrades.

    Care-Comrade meow-hug

Glad you are settling in comfortably. Many of the lemmy.ml folks are pretty cool too, and I’ve been enjoying the hexbear comrades for years now. sicko-hexbear-woke

Being on lemmygrad, you are insulated from most of the “scratched liberals” of the lemmyverse.

    Welcome aboard comrade!

I have to mind my word irl and mainstream sites because of heavy surveillance, and I even had to change accounts twice. My only advice is be careful with your DMs, some fed accounts with very young age and no post history can ask you very detailed questions.

Also, many people from Hexbear, Lemmy.ml and Anarchist.nexus are comrades too!

Good to have you here. That said, knowing you aren’t crazy is just going to make you more annoying IRL because now you other people reminding you of the obligation to agitate the masses and helping you sharpen your skills to do so.

You’re further along than me. I have great difficulty trusting people even here. Autism is one of the more “acceptable” disorders and I say it as someone who has it. Much like there’s a torrent of bullshit regarding China and Ukraine etc. that many believe, there’s also a lot of deprogramming that needs to be done regarding cluster bs among other things before I feel more comfortable.

Being raised like I’m neurotypical and expected to act like it means I’ve learned to take BS from people most of the time. Here everyone who doesn’t have a “lower function” (can’t find another way to word this, sorry) variant of autism has nothing at all, so I just had to take everything with 0 support. At times it definetly makes me a bit callous, but I generally tend to be quite polite (mostly to complete strangers).
