I only care about what the place I work at does in as much as I want to work somewhere that doesn’t make the world materially worse. As far as I can tell what I work on is benign and slightly pointless, which seems the best one can do in a hyper capitalist society.

always annoyed me when companies talked this way and im about as intrinsinctly motivated as anyone I know. Not as much nowadays as our society is very good at stifling motivation. Sure I like tech and puzzles and figuring things out but I would not do it at a company if I did not need the money.
A job is not a purpose, it only provides the means with which to realise it.
Isn’t he kind of assuming they aren’t there to sabotage his evil plans, and collect a pay check?
