Eh?
copying israel’s gooner propaganda strategy i see
They were already one of the sex trafficking nexuses of the world.
Now women can also be subject to impressment.
fucking monkey paw. I always wanted to live in a country with legalized sex work, but not like this…
Supporting “sex work” seems… very antithetical to socialism/communism, and something that an anarchist would probably support. Inherently exploitative, unproductive labor, that also gives rise to individualistic tendencies? If any work under capitalism is coerced labor, a labor by force, a labor under economic pressure, a labor that is aquired by coercion, then what are we supposed to call “sex work”? People engage in it exactly due to the same economic reasons that other people engage in other lines of work - in other words, to make a living. There are two possibilities, either it was a “free” choice (as free as choosing to be an engineer or a cashier), or they wrre straight up kidnapped, trafficked and forced to do this (according to data it is majority of prostitutes world-wide). Now, knowing that, what are we to call prostitution if not the most degrading, the most demeaning, the most disgusting and dangerous line of work there is? If work under capitalism is coerced, and if coerced sex is called rape, then what are we to call prostitution or so called “sex work” if not paid rape??? On the contrary, what reason for “sex work” would there be under a socialist economy? As we established it is unproductive labor, it does not create value, nor does it help realize it, therefore there is no economic reasons for it’s existence under socialism (even marketing has more “ability” to contribute to realization of value under socialism than prostitution). Why would anyone sell their own body, in the most literal way, if they had all their basic needs met? Why not engage in acts of free love instead, which anyone knows are way more fullfilling? To add insult to injury, consider the fact that 90% of people who engage/are forced to engage in prostitution want to leave that line of work. Please comrade, this view is one of the most harmful ones one can have. Please read comrade’s Esmeraldas account of the horrors she endured, and the works of Alexandra Kollontai and Angela Davies on that topic. Here’s the article of comrade Esmeralda: https://redsails.org/on-the-sex-trade/
Edit: To add even more, the relationship between a prostitue and the rapist is reminiscent of the relationship between the worker and the capitalist. The rapist wants to use your body for the cheapest and longest and to it’s utmost (usually realizing their most deviant fantasies, and resulting in bodily injuries), the worker on the other hand wants to be paid the most, for the shortest and least amount of work. The only difference is that it is not work that is stolen but your bodily autonomy, the right to decide about the physical state of your body.
And to add what is imo a point that should have been decided upon years ago:
SW abolitionists do not want to take away anyone’s ability or means to hook up. We just want everyone’s living standards to be met so they do not need to have sex to have those standards met.
Great point comrade, let me elaborate on what I mean. My perspective on this is a bit cynical. So long as we’re dealing with society that has money in one form or another, I think porn industry and sex work will exist in some form or the other, and fighting it is pointless. Maybe my experience in sex work and with life in eastern europe in general made me a bit of a doomer on this topic, but I think trying to get rid of it entirely is not only counterproductive but actively harmful. You cannot outlaw sex work out of existence, like alcohol or drug abuse, so outlawing it only makes it more risky for everyone involved, including the workers participating in it. If the real, in-the-moment, choice placed before me is “wage a crusade against something that cannot be killed in our modern time” or “try to compromise with it and bring it under control to reduce harm” I’m picking the last option. Under a transitional state with a socialist govt creating a real legal framework and protection for sex workers with a real pipeline to get them out of the industry is gonna do less harm than just outright banning them because we’re still dealing with capital and, ultimately, are still dealing with remains of the capitalist system within our nation, which will be here for the foreseeable future. Same as criminalizing alcohol or drugs. With that being said, I do recognize that my perspective on this might be shaped by personal biases or be outright liberal, so I will be more than happy to read the materials you provided, thank you comrade!
Why not engage in acts of free love instead, which anyone knows are way more fullfilling?
I see no problem with sexual community service, matter of fact - Communist Gloryholes ftw. In an abstract socialist society of the future I wholeheartedly support this over monetary service. With that being said, “which anyone knows are way more fullfilling” is a matter of personal perspective (which I agree with, for the record, but fulfillment isn’t universal in every way, so this isn’t really something truly based in the material world imo but that’s a tangent). I have a slight issue with it because similar sentiments are being used as prejudice against polyamory, but I understand what you mean. Edit: regarding value, I view this as providing a form of entertainment and/or fulfilling a need, especially if it’s recorded pornography, but overall it’s not very high. And certainly not high enough to justify the abuse the sex workers face
Communist gloryholes ftw
Bro did not just say that lol
The concept of sex work and the commodification of sex is un-communist. There should be no sex work under socialism whatsoever, without exception. You would have the exact same freedoms to do whatever you want with consenting individuals in a society without any sex work being planned as “community service”.
“sexual community service”
The whole thought process of seeing sex in terms of provider and pursuer is, in fact, the capitalist thought process, and not at all in line with what sex will look like under communism
The line between “pursuer” and “provider” will vanish alongside the patriarchy and instead will appear merely as two people being compatible.
So, no, it’s not going to be communist glory holes, but instead communist kink clubsdeleted by creator
