You know you’ve reached the peak of strength when you force your dad to eat your imaginary dinner. This is referencing a real Baki scene.

Not only is that Che Guevara, but iirc this fight started because the twins there wanted to assassinate Mike Tyson and Che stopped them.

The Arizona State Prison arc is crazy. Baki gets himself sent there by kidnapping president George W. Bush because he wants to fight the guy that’s the strongest in the world behind his dad. But he’s gotta fight Che Guevara first.

Far and away the funniest anime I’ve ever seen. Just awful, hysterical garbage, and the author makes sure you understand just how low they can stoop. One of Baki’s earliest training arcs involves penetrating a heavily fortified country and subduing a superhuman genius land-swimming war criminal freedom fighter.

SA warning: one of the main villains, and father of the protagonist, canonically travels around the world raping men and women and pointedly states that if they are aroused by someone, they must be a woman. The same character’s father fought the entire US military and won.

This is an utterly irredeemable mound of slop, and I can’t help but watch it. Its pseudoscience and post facto justifications are captivating

The entire story is unhinged teenage ramblings plastered over art of immense detail and style reminiscent of classical Japanese paintings. It’s not at all surprising to find it greentexts in the same vein

I still can’t get over how homoerotic it is. You’ll always get layers of that in anything that centres on hyper-masculine sports or fiction, but Baki is so heavy with it I can’t tell if it’s intentional as some kind of commentary or if the author is just a severely repressed gay guy.

I mean, if his daughter (Paru Itagaki), the author of Beastars and Sanda is any indicator, dude is just goofy like that.

hmm, I’ve heard of Beastars, but what’s this Sanda?

The story takes place in the future, where the birth rate in Japan has been rapidly declining. The main character, Kazushige Sanda, is found to be the descendant of Santa Claus by his classmate, Shiori Fuyumura. Together, they attempt to find Fuyumura’s missing classmate, Ono Ichie.

Then the president swore loyalty to Yujiro. Baki has been around long enough that Bush Jr., Obama, and Trump have sworn loyalty. Trump heiled him the first time. Thesecond he brought Elon and Yujiro was like ayo who tf is this.

Only the second weirdest presidential antics in manga I can recall, Obama mindswapping into a 12 year old girl in Air Gear being #1

There was some Anime on Netflix that was basically gods vs humans and was exactly this. I couldn’t get past an episode or two.
