Sadly I think I’m finally ready to put Sync out to pasture since it isn’t maintained.
Summit. I love the screenshot feature. I can pick content and share to my WA stories
Tried Voyager and Jerboa. I prefer Voyager slightly over Jerboa
I’m currently using Mlem on my iPhone. It recently got updated to version 2.0 and this made it a much better experience than before. Plus it’s a native app which I personally like.
I’m pretty happy with Voyager. It’s not perfect but it’s good
Voyager has been pretty decent for me.
It’s made the migration from Reddit as smooth as butter. It’s like I never left.
Voyager
Apollo, er, Voyager.
Web App on iPhone.
FYI yall might be interested in the apps community !lemmyapps@lemmy.world
Booth has been good so far
Boost
I like Jerboa, mainly because it doesn’t have ads.
Thunder is my favourite. It’s an android app and I got it from F-Droid (Izzy on Droids Repo). Clean and customizable interface, convenient features like for example multi account support. I would recommend it!
Too bad it can’t handle private messages apart from reading; you can’t even easily mark them as read. The interface is mostly excellent, though, and hey, I’m using it for this comment right now.
Its lovely indeed
Eternity.
My favorite feature is the support of multi-communites.
This is actually my favorite too! I downloaded like 5-6 different ones a few months ago and tried them all and played with the settings to see which I liked the layout of best. This one was my favorite.
Currently I use Boost for Lemmy, I even bought it to support it. Sadly there was no update since last july 😐
Edit: typo
buyed
🤦♂️
Has it needed an update? He was really good with the Reddit app. If there isn’t an active problem with the app tho, it may not need updated. It’s what I use, and I haven’t had any issues with it
Edit: just to get onto my parent comment, he is working on an update for 0.19.9 features, posted 2 days ago. It seems there may have been some departure from regular updates, so hard to defend that, but seems like he’s back on it?
Community and info @ !boostforlemmy@lemmy.world
I think if you’re gonna charge people fees then it should be regularly maintained. Big reason I’m done with sync.
Big reason I’m done with
syncpaid software.FTFY
Spoilers aren’t working.
Ooo I had seen that, but I rarely use the website so I just assumed it was an issue with markdown in general. He was fairly responsive in the reddit for the app, I wonder if there is one here that he responds to?
He has been posting comments about updating the app in the last couple of days. I really liked it and would probably give it another try, but having working spoiler tags is really neat and the main reason I switched.
I like regular updated software. Don’t know if it is still an active project
I mean fair, but if there is nothing to update, what would there be to do?
Update 1.0.12: Just want to keep Playstore dates recent?
There is enough to update, seems like it when I scroll through the Boost community (bugfixes, new features)… Last update mentioned Lemmy 0.19.4, now we have 0.19.10. With v1.0 there will be new features like OIDC.
Software is never “done”
Boost has one more point to update regularly: he earns money with it. If you don’t pay for it, you get ads. That’s okay, but by paying for an app I want regular updates. I bought Boost to support the development
I updated my original comment, it seems there was a hiatus to development. As of 2 days ago, he’s working on getting parity with .09. I’d say it is being developed, just not on great timelines. But I’ve had his stuff on Reddit, I’ve had it here. Fairly sure it’s just one dude. Maybe I’m too patient, or my expectations too low, but I’ve been fine with it. I think someone mentioned spoiler tags don’t work, but I’ve seen that maybe half a dozen times in a year, so it doesn’t really register to me.
Would every version change of Lemmy necessitate an update to the app, if it’s just background stuff to lemmy and federating stuff? I’m hardly an expert, but if the information is packaged in a practical way to the app, changes to lemmy versions wouldn’t necessarily require an app update unless there were changes to the protocol, I imagine? Looking at the changelog for 8 and 7 wouldn’t look like it would effect the app, or cause it to miss features.
Not to say you are wrong or me right; he was always responsive and on it with the Reddit app, so my overall experience may have me biased towards his side with less justification.
It does not need an update for every Lemmy version, but in the last ones were new features for admins and mods. Apps need to support them. It is good to hear, he is developing on a new version, I like Boost for Lemmy. It was just a long time since the last update.
As you said, it is hard to keep timelines if you are a single dev. But an update every quarter would be nice.
I am looking at the dates when installing an app. I would not install an app last updated a year ago. They seem dropped to me
Would the version of lemmy your home instance is running also effect your app experience as well, just put off curiosity?
