Aggravating-End-7774@alien.topBtoExpats@expats.zone•US Expats: What do you NOT miss about living in the United States?English

1 year agoThe only thing I miss about the US is family. That’s it. I don’t miss the political vitriol, the racial obsession, the driving culture, the attitude of live to work rather than work to live, the terrible food and beer and wine. I don’t miss the superficiality. I don’t miss the lack of personal freedom. I don’t miss the constant presence of armed police. I don’t miss anything.
Except for family.
Hard?
No.
Excruciatingly painful and awkward?
Yes.
For me, however, it’s the opposite. I have difficulty in returning to my home country, not leaving it. Frankly, I never want to return to my home country other than for a few weeks to visit family.
After ten years in Spain, I no longer belong in the US.
It’s where I was born but it is no longer my home.
Life in the US is a terrible way to live. The food culture, the driving culture, the work culture, the superficiality, the political vitriol, the racial obsession. Pretty much everything sucks except for the scenery.
