They still make them. I’ve read quite a few of them. They’re usually far from being literary masterpieces but they’re a fun guilty pleasure for me. Right now I’m reading a novelization that just came out this year for the show Firefly. It’s just fun being back in that world.

I wouldn’t take the rating system on Goodreads too seriously. I’ve seen people rate books that the author hasn’t even finished writing yet.

I haven’t read the book but one of the members in my book loved this book and even buddy read the sequel with one of the other members. When I asked her about it, she actually recommended that I don’t read her beloved book because it had some things in it she knows I don’t like.

So many times people act like everyone should like a book just because they like it. Her response to not read the book was thoughtful and appreciated.

Just recently had this happen with Night Watch by Terry Pratchett. I don’t normally like time travel books but this one was excellent.

I loved coming across the strange old vintage photographs while I was reading and seeing how the author worked them into the story. The photographs were taken by actual people in real life and the story and the character’s powers were all built around them. I don’t know if anyone else here is a fan of these books but I would love to experience the surprise and creativity again for the first time.

I’ve been reading The Terror by Dan Simmons for a long time. I’m enjoying the horror and mystery but I have to be in the right mood for it. The atmosphere is freezing and grim. Most of the people are jerks with plenty of racism and classism. There is constantly some horrific tragedy.

I’ve only read The Old Man and The Sea. It was required reading in high school. It was very emotionless and bland to me.

I’ve always been a reader. Even before I actually knew how to read I was into books.

My first novel was The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe.

Gatsby definitely plotted and planned for Daisy’s cousin, Nick to live there. He already bought an expensive mansion right across the water from Daisy’s so he could stare in her general direction at night. Gatsby was obsessed and would have done anything to gain favor with Daisy.

For bigger books, I like ebooks. It’s easier to carry and you can look up words that are unfamiliar. If you have a copy on your phone, you’ll always have it with you no matter where you go.

Other than that, just being consistent and focused. I try to avoid Reddit because I can get sucked in forever when I’m supposed to be reading!

Like many people here, I use it to find more books to read. I’m okay with them adding Romantasy but it’s strange that they removed Graphic Novels. I don’t really read graphic novels but they seemed to be really popular this past year.
